Passphrases
Longer passwords, or passphrases, are more secure than shorter ones. Passphrases also allow you to use a memorable phrase. Avoid names, common phrases, famous quotations, and song lyrics.
- Don't reveal a password over the phone or in an email message
- Don't reuse the same password when required to change; Don't use your User ID as your password
- Don't talk about a password in front of others
- Don't hint at the format of a password (e.g., "my family name")
- Don't reveal a password on questionnaires or security forms
- Don't share a password with family members
